The state of Fribourg at your feet

Geocity (Austria)

An innovative and interactive way to discover the state of Fribourg, and its surrounding metropolitan area. Realised in collaboration with Ars Electronica.

Explaination of the installation

Geo City is the fruit of multiple collaborations. Ars Electronica, having originated this technology, accompanied us through the realisation of this installation.

The University of Fribourg, through their Geography Department, helped us gather the factual information and also helped organize and choose relevant facts.

The metropolitan department of Fribourg opened its doors for us and gave us free access to statistics, as did the State of Fribourg, the state library, the University and various metropolitan services.

Finally the Television Station RTS, through its archives, and its internet site:, enabled us to bring light to the historical evolution of the metropolitan area and its construction.
